The once iconic and omnipresent World Trade Center towers were tragically destroyed in the horrific terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. After many years of planning and construction, the World Trade Center complex was rebuilt. Today, there is a reflection pond honoring the lives that were lost, and now there stands one large skyscraper, One World Trade Center, also commonly referred to as 1 WTC or the Freedom Tower.
